Missing playing

Thursday 27 July 2006 @ 10:07 pm

Has been a while since I have been able to get out and play golf.  Really missing it.  Unfortunately, the better half has had some medical problems and this has had me playing nursemaid.  Now not complaining (yes I am but shouldn’t) as you have to take the good with the bad.

Hope in another week to be able to sneak away and see if I can still hit them down the middle.  Should be interesting to find out.

On another note in surfing the web found a great story on the other side of Tiger Woods in The Daily News of Longview WA by columnist - Rick Woodson.  Made note of the human side of Tiger.  Check it out.

Tiger Woods is back!!!

Sunday 23 July 2006 @ 6:58 pm

He played the final round of the British Open like only Tiger Woods can.  Except for Ernie Els very early nobody got close.  Truly amazing to see his record when leading after 3 rounds in a major - 7-0.

Every time someone got close he answered.  Got to shake your head and wonder when you watch him reach the green in two on a par 5 without using a driver.

Don’t know what the final percentage was but at one point about halfway through the round he had hit the fairway over 85% of his shots.

All I can say is congratulations Tiger.

Unfortunately, looks like Phil Mickelson hasn’t recovered from his give away in the US Open.  Still an excellent golfer and finished 22nd which is still great.  Had hopes that he would be the one to give Tiger a run for his money in being the number 1 golfer after last year.  Guess we will have to wait and see who will step up and try to catch him.  Nobody that I can see right now but it will be interesting to see as somebody always does.

Looks like Tiger is back

Friday 21 July 2006 @ 5:10 pm

Unlike the US Open when he didn’t even play the weekend in his first time back since the death of his father, Tiger is back and looks like he could be very tough to beat.

Looking like the Tiger Woods of last year he has gone out and tamed the Royal Liverpool course.  Another day like today on Saturday and Tiger could be well on his way to a second straight Claret Jug.

Ernie Els though is only one back but then the gap widens.  Should be a great weekend of early morning golf watching for this Old Bald Guy.
